December 2018 - The boat starts to look like a porcupine again!

December 2018

The guys were getting antsy about having to reach the garboard and so began to bung everything up. The boat starts to look like a porcupine again!

Rick knocks heads off nearly flush, going in direction of the grain. Rick, did you make sure the grain of bungs matched the direction of grain of garboard? Dutch finds they lop off easily just with a nudge of the palm.

You'll note that cedar planks are screwed flush since they'll be covered with shellac and mahogany. We'll have to revisit some as we sand the cedar fair to shape of hull.

This is bronze screw intensive work! Wonder if John or Nat every thought of just going into the bronze screw business? More profitable and less risk?
