Nautical Wreaths

Join us for a lesson in marlinspike seamanship! In this evening workshop you will learn how to weave and finish your own 12″ Manila rope “wreath.” We will also discuss the history and use of traditional and fancy knotwork onboard boats, and look at a few examples of relevant artifacts from the collection. If there’s time, we may also cover splicing and whipping. All necessary materials, supplies and instructions will be provided as part of the class. You will go away with your own wreath ready to hang or decorate further – and more importantly, the confidence and expertise to keep exploring these kinds of projects on your own!

This workshop is held on the Herreshoff Marine Museum campus in the historic HMCo. shop buildings.

This workshop is for Adults 18+ and is limited to 10 participants. A Minimum of 6 students is required to run the workshop.

Tuition: $75 (includes all materials!)

Date: Tuesday, December 17, 6:30pm to 8:30pm
