Art Exhibition on HMM Campus: “The Myths Of The Sea”

The show will benefit the Herreshoff Youth Sailing Program. 

"The Myths Of The Sea”, featuring the yachts of Nathanael G. Herreshoff as photographed by Edwin Gifford and the sculptures of Bonnie Blue, whose work concentrates on dolphins, mermaids and enchanted sailing ships, will open at the Herreshoff Marine Museum, 26 Burnside Street in Bristol, Thursday, August 24th, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. Both Ed and Bonnie are Bristol artists who have their studios in the Herreshoff Marine Museum complex. The show will benefit the Herreshoff Youth Sailing Program. 

Bonnie Blue earned her MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. She also  studied at the Temple Tyler School of Art in Rome, Italy. Bonnie is a Reiki master and certified dolphin energy healer.  She is  also a former collegiate spring board diving champion. For more information, go to healingdolphins.com

Ed Gifford, inspired by German photojournalist Alfred Eisenstadt, began his professional photographic career at the age of  14, shooting stage productions for his father, a New York theatrical publicist.  Ed Studied with Harlem photographer Roy Decarava at New York’s Hunter College. Ed is  a sailor, has a 100 ton Master Captains License  has been racing and delivering boats worldwide for over 40 years and has a lobe  for all things Herreshoff.

America’s Cup  Hall of Fame member Halsey C. Herreshoff has written the show’s introduction. There will be  music of the sea performed by  2 time solo Circumnavigator Donna Lange. Aidens Pub regular Johnny Forrest  will be playing Irish music. Light refeshments and libations will be served and all are welcome.
