Seaweed Prints

A how-to guide from the Cornwall Wildlife Trust on making beautiful prints at home

by Cornwall Wildlife Trust

Learn how to make your own seaweed prints using this simple technique! We know it's a little cold outside in New England this time of year, but we're all trying to spend more time outdoors these days, so why not take a walk to the beach? It only takes a few simple supplies and some patience. Because of seaweed's naturally gelatinous qualities, you don't even need glue! If you want to learn more, you can read about the history of the seaweed album craze here, or read one example of why historical seaweed prints are still super useful for scientists today in this article from the Smithsonian Magazine. If you need a little extra inspiration, check out some of the seaweed prints in the online collection of the Natural History Museum London.
