HERRESHOFF MARINE MUSEUM
2025

We welcomed guests from across the country and the world, proof that our little corner of Rhode Island continues to inspire far beyond its shorelines. We hosted 25 community events this year, each one serving as a reminder that HMM is where people gather to celebrate creativity, history, and innovation.
This year, we also expanded our digital presence, sharing stories from our collections and community with a wider audience than ever before. Our monthly curatorial newsletter now reaches more than 10,000 readers, connecting people around the world to the legacy of innovation, craftsmanship, and maritime history that defines the Herreshoff story.
Our sailing program teaches teamwork and creative problem-solving, as well as tangible sailing and seamanship skills to all ages. Our boatbuilding and composites programs encourage teens to dive into hands-on learning, and they shine a light on potential career pathways in the RI Blue Economy. Our adult workshops continue the Herreshoff tradition of skilled craftsmanship, such as bronze casting, woodworking, and marlinspike seamanship. Thanks to you, we can make a difference in our students’ lives, no matter their age, background, or experience.
Because of your enthusiasm and support for HMM, our programs continue to grow each year, along with our understanding of what community means. Sailing, boatbuilding, and innovation in blue technologies have become deeply woven into our local, regional, and even global communities and industrial heritage.
As we look toward 2026, I invite you to help keep this positive momentum going. Whether it be scholarships to attend our youth programming, free museum admission through our outreach programs, or events for all our communities to enjoy, your financial contributions have helped us to increase access across the organization. Making a year-end gift aids the museum in preparing for the next year of events, classes, and exhibits, all while supporting our talented and dedicated staff in the development of high-quality community and educational programming.
So, as we approach the end of the year, I humbly ask for your continued support. Together we can not only preserve the past, but also learn from it, and use these stories to inspire the next generation of problem solvers.
