Guide visitors through the Museum, which contains exhibits, photographs and memorabilia related to the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company; and through the America's Cup Hall of Fame, which has many artifacts and information on the America's Cup competition. Training is available.
Museum Store Assistant
Assist the gift shop manager with sales and inventory and help maintain the appearance of the store. The Museum's gift shop is adjacent to the admissions area and is a lively and interesting place to work and provides an opportunity to meet visitors from all over the world. Some knowledge of computers is helpful, but not essential. Training is available.
Assist the museum's boat restoration and maintenance staff with their projects, most involving small vintage sailing craft. Project work would include rigging; spar, hull and sail repair; and maintaining the facility and waterfront. Some knowledge of hand tools is helpful. An interest in classic small craft is desirable. This work is "hands-on".
Assist in general office work such as answering phones, filing, assisting in mailings, etc. A year-round opportunity to work with the fun and dedicated HMM staff! Comfort on the phone and in working with the public are essential. Some knowledge of computers is desirable. Training is available.
Assist with planting, weeding and pruning of several gardens at the Museum which would appreciate some tender loving care throughout the summer months. Volunteers should have some experience in garden planning and maintenance.
