Help Us Get More Kids on the Water
June 16th marks the beginning of the 2025 Summer Sailing School, the centerpiece of our STEM Education Program in which 4,000 young learners have participated over the past ten years. Through sailing, boatbuilding, and composites training programs, we are inspiring the next generation of problem solvers at HMM. Many students experience ‘firsts’ in our programs: first time sailing, woodworking, or using composite technology. These firsts can spark a lifelong passion, and many past students have started careers in Rhode Island’s maritime economy.
We are dedicated to ‘lighting that spark’ by providing the skilled staff, equipment, and supplies necessary to run our programs. Here’s a snapshot of what that takes financially, and how your generosity can play a significant role in maintaining our experiential learning programs:
• 1-week scholarship for the Summer Sailing School: $395
• Annual maintenance of our historic Herreshoff sailing school fleet: $10,500
• Scholarship for our 10-week boatbuilding program: $800
