Mid May 2019
It has been a long slog getting the hull sanded fair but when it comes to finishes it is all about preparation. We put a coat of amber shellac sealer on the hull along with oak stain on garboard and broad strake to get it to match the oak keel. We got fairly close but can’t match the grain – remembering this will be at the bottom of the boat so it’ll look the same.
We’ve used a stainable wood filler to putty in screw holes in the mahogany. Paul is sanding them fair.
