The racing catboat CALYPSO (HMCo. #403) was contracted on March 22, 1889 for $500. CALYPSO belonged to Dr. George C. de Marini, a friend of Captain Nat's, and de Marini's son-in-law, John A. Oldenburg of Finlayson, Minnesota. De Marini had previously bought N. G. Herreshoff's catboat SABRINA in 1879, which was later exported to Finland. Dr. de Marini and Captain Nat kept up an active correspondence until Dr. de Marini's death in 1914. 📸 Halsey C.
